2 Squadron Australian Flying CorpsHistory of 2 Squadron AFC : The Squadron was formed in Egypt from a nucleus of 1 Sqn and a spate of recruitment through the Lighthorse. The Squadron travelled to England where it underwent training and equipping with the back-staggered DH5 Scout. The Squadron fought through the Cambrai battles before being equipped with the high speed SE5a scout. The squadron flew in the scout until the end of war, and in the second half of 1918 joined with 4 Sqn AFC as part of 80 Wing.
People of 2 Squadron Australian Flying CorpsAces of 2 Squadron AFC : During the squadrons operational career, there were 16 aces and 24 other aircrew who recorded victories. The Squadron claimed 185 aircraft, with 94 Destroyed, 73 Out of Control and 18 Driven Down. Prisoners Of War of 2 Squadron AFC : There were seven pilots lost by 2 Squadron Australian Flying Corps over enemy lines and taken Prisoner Of War, all were repatriated after the war.
Aircraft of 2 Squadron Australian Flying CorpsInsignia and Markings of 2 Squadron AFC : The Squadron used various markings through their training period in England. Once operational the squadron used the simple white geometric designs in the manner of the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Air Force.
