Sopwith Snipe E8069
This profile above is taken from a photograph in the Australian War Memorial Collection of the Sopwith Snipe E8069 which was flown by Captain Thomas C.R. Baker on two operational flights, one resulting in a victory to Baker on the 26th of October when he shot a DVII out of control near Tournai. Note the short lower length of the squadron's bar marking. It rarely extended any furthur lower than the inner red circle of the cockade. The squadron letterings were often very hand done in appearance, E8069's flight marking 2 is the more professional looking of the numbered aircraft of B Flight. www.australianflyingcorps.org : A Complete History of the Australian Flying Corps |
