    ____________________

This profile is taken from a photograph in "High Adventure" of B8392 captioned, "Lieutenant Frank Currie beside his C Flight SE5a. A protective covering had been fitted to the Lewis gun on the top wing." Despite the caption, B8392 with a flight marking of "1" was most likely from B Flight. Lieutenant Francis Thomas Currie served in the Australian Flying Corps until the 12th of July 1919 when he returned to Australia after having enlisted for the Australian Imperial Force on the 25th of September 1916. This particular aircraft went through a rough landing in Currie's hands on the 27th of August 1918. The aircraft was to survive in 2 Squadron service until October when it was sent to 1 ASD after a forced landing.
