![]() Land had been bought by the Government in 1913 for the establishment of a Military Flying School at Point Cook. Unfortunately, Australia had no indigineous aviation manufacturing firms, and all aircraft had to be either imported from Europe or America. As a result, the aircraft operated by the Central Flying School at Point Cook was an odd collection of always out-dated aircraft. Hardly the advanced training future Scout, Army and Corps pilots and crew would need. As a result, the AFC squadrons that mobilized did their advanced training in England and the school at Point Cook was used for initial training. The Central Flying School used their own serial numbering scheme.
