After everybody else had been invited, the Mayor of Richmond and his fellow Aldermen received an invitation at the leventh hour to attend the aviation blow out on Monday. Mr Percival was invited on Sunday, and his colleague on Monday. The Mayor very properly declined the profferred insult and the rest of the Alderman stood loyally by him. Considering that the aviation grounds belong to Richmond Council, one would have thought the alderman would have been the very first people invited.
The local press was shabbily treated by those who had to do with the opening of the aviation school on Monday. The matter was brough under the notice of the Premier by Mr. Fitzpatrick M.L.A. on Monday when Mr. Honnan arrived on the ground. The Premier then sought the Editor of the "Gazette" and gave him a personal invitation to attend the banquet; which was declined. To give Mr. Hoffman kind due, he was genuinely upset over the matter, and stated that he would have an apology sent from his office to the Windsor paper and the Richmond paper for the discourtesy.

The people of the Hawkesbury district were insulted by being locked outside while the big nobs from Sydney were airing their eloquence and guzzling at the expense of the taxpayers, inside the aerodrome on Monday. But for the enterprise of the Mayor of Windsor, he and his fellow Aldermen would have been out in the cold too. They received belated invitations as did the president and clerk of Colo Shire. The affair was evidently intended to be a feed and guzzle for the Parliamentarians and their hangars-on, but the Mayor of Windsor asserted the rights of the hisstoric borough.
